About

Nottingham based artist Izzy Mead (b.2001; Nottingham, UK) studies BA(Hons) Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University. Mead uses primarily acrylic paint creating abstract expressionistic styles of work. Mead uses painting as an escapism, encapsulating her emotions in her paint strokes and bold contrasting colour palettes.

In searching for quiet individual spaces, Mead creates her works by zoning out amongst music in one place of pure independence and concentration.

Just like her large flowing gestures, her paintings are created in singular encompassing sessions.

Having spent most of her life growing up in the countryside of Nottinghamshire surrounded by quiet melodies of birds and music that influence the therapeutic and cathartic nature of her process which flows through each mark and gesture.

Benefitting from many creative outlets Mead is overtly feminine in nature projected through style, character, and art forms. Mead incorporates and is influenced by her feminine experiences in life and flares of style flowing into her work.

Work has been exhibited by Mead within the “NTU Freeland’s Painting Prize Shortlist Exhibition” 2023 within Bonington Atrium as well as being involved in a collaborative project “Project Pending…” at an Artist Residency at Surface Gallery, Nottingham 2022.
